The DrägerSensor Dual IR Ex/CO2 precisely measures the concentration of flammable gases and carbon dioxide and warns of hazardous gas concentrations.

  • Compatible with the Dräger X-am 5600 and Dräger X-am 8000
  • The replaceable sensor comes with a one-year warranty and has an expected service life of more than 60 months
  • Works on the principle of infrared absorption and remains capable of measuring even in oxygen-deficient or oxygen-free mixtures
  • Fast response time in both diffusion and pump mode

Technical data – DrägerSensor Dual IR Ex/CO2

Resolution1.0 % LEL for the Dräger X-am 5600 / X-am 8000 in the Ex measuring range; for CO2: 0.01 vol.% CO2 or 50 ppm CO2, depending on the measuring range
Measuring range0 to 100 % LEL or 0 to 100 vol.%, depending on the measured gas; CO2: 0 to 5 vol.% CO2
Accuracy (sensitivity)
  • Ex measuring range, adjusted with methane: repeatability ± 1.0 % LEL, linearity error ± 4.5 % of the measured value or ± 1.5 % of full scale, whichever is greater
  • CO2 measuring range: repeatability ± 0.01 vol.% CO2, linearity error ± 10 % of the measured value or ± 1.5 % of full scale, whichever is greater
Long-term drift at 20 °C (68 °F)
  • Ex zero point: ≤ ± 1 % LEL/month; at 50 % LEL Ex: ≤ ± 3 % LEL/month
  • CO2 zero point: ± 0.005 vol.% CO2/month; at 2.5 vol.% CO2: ± 0.1 vol.% CO2/6 months
Warm-up timeAfter a sensor replacement, approx. 3 minutes with the instrument switched on until calibration is possible
Environmental conditions
  • Temperature: −20 to 50 °C
  • Humidity: 0 to 95 % RH
  • Pressure: 700 to 1,300 hPa; for the CO2 measuring range the documentation additionally specifies 800 to 1,100 hPa
Effect of temperature
  • Ex zero point: ≤ ± 0.02 % LEL; at 50 % LEL (Ex): ≤ ± 0.1 % LEL
  • CO2 zero point: ≤ ± 0.0002 vol.% CO2/K; at 2.5 vol.% CO2: ≤ ± 0.0015 vol.% CO2/K
Effect of humidity
  • Ex zero point: ≤ ± 0.01 % LEL
  • CO2 zero point: ≤ 0.0001 vol.% CO2/% RH

Test gas: for Ex, 2.5 vol.% methane in air or 0.9 vol.% propane in air for the respective adjustment; for CO2, 2.0 vol.% CO2 in air. For safety-critical measurements, calibration and gas testing must be carried out in accordance with national regulations.

Relevant cross-sensitivities – DrägerSensor Dual IR Ex/CO2

The values given in the table are guide values and apply to new sensors. The values stated may vary by ±30%. The sensor may also be sensitive to other gases (data available from Dräger on request). Gas mixtures may be displayed as a combined total. Gases with a negative sensitivity can cancel out a positive Ex/CO2 reading. It should therefore be checked whether gas mixtures are present.
